Engineering and Construction

Introduction

The City of Jacksonville Engineering Division provides information, recommendations, and services to construct, preserve and improve the City's infrastructure. Engineering staff offers technical assistance and oversight to ensure public improvements are cost-effective and consistent with City specifications. The Engineering Division also provides techical review and inspections to business owners, builders, and developers to ensure infrastructure is designed and constructed in accordance with adopted City standards. The Engineering Division is divided into the Engineering Section and the Construction Section.

The Engineering Section:

Designs small infrastructure rehabilitaion and replacement projects;
Reviews all site plans, construction drawings and specifications for projects submitted by private developers;
Provides contract administration services for City funded projects;
Solicits the services of private engineering consultants to provide additional engineering services.

The Construction Section:

Provides periodic daily inspections of all private developments to ensure compliance with City specifications;
Provides daily inspections of all City funded projects to ensure compliance with project specifications;
Promotes OSHA compliance on privately funded and City funded projects.
